Rockpool partners with assistive technology provider CareScribe to accelerate UK and international growth

Rockpool has invested in CareScribe, a fast-growing assistive technology company that designs software to enhance the accessibility, productivity and inclusivity of disabled and neurodivergent people in education and the workplace.

CareScribe’s assistive technology software enables users to work and study independently, improving productivity, accessibility and inclusivity. CareScribe’s core products are Caption.Ed, an advanced captioning and note-taking software; TalkType, a cross-platform dictation software compatible with mobile, Windows and Mac; and Medincle, a dictation plug-in and spellchecker for medical students.

CareScribe is led by its co-founders, Richard Purcell and Thomas Cartwright, who have driven rapid growth in the company since its inception in 2019. The investment will support CareScribe’s next phase of growth: scaling product-led user adoption, expanding the software portfolio, and accelerating growth in workplace and education markets.

Over the medium term, CareScribe’s ambition is to build a broad inclusion technology offering that combines high-quality software tools, knowledge and enablement to help organisations support neurodiversity needs and accessibility at scale.

Cath Keers will join the company as Chair, bringing a wealth of experience to the team, having previously held senior executive and non-executive roles at Sage, Bupa and TrustedHousesitters, amongst other positions.

Rockpool’s investment in CareScribe was led by Darran Green, Simon Collins, and Ryan McTigue.

“CareScribe has achieved strong momentum over the past few years, and this partnership with Rockpool gives us the platform to build on that progress. Their experience in scaling software businesses, combined with a shared belief in the importance of inclusive technology, makes them a strong partner as we enter our next phase of growth.”

Richard Purcell, CEO and Co-founder of CareScribe

“I am thrilled to be backing Rich and Tom to support CareScribe’s development. Rockpool was drawn to invest in CareScribe by its ambitious growth strategy focused on product innovation and market expansion, underpinned by a clear social purpose to support disabled and neurodivergent people. Our role will be to enable CareScribe to broaden its reach and impact over the coming years.”
